I'm glad I saw it but don't need to go back. It was interesting seeing the tiny rope tow facility. The ski jumps were really interesting to see. We had just hiked Icicle Ridge which was fantastic so Ski Hill was downhill from there!
Took my girls and son in law here year before last and it was fantastic fun. I love that they have it set up on a tow rope and then once at the top of the hill make sure to ask the guy unhooking you to "spin me" for a fast and dizzying fun ride down!
Stopped to take a walk and explore some of the historical significance to the Leavenworth area. Very interesting but nothing happening in the summer.
Out of 6 years visiting this twon in December, there has only been enough snow to ski once. However, there is almost always tubing and it is a great hill. Guys at the bottom hook your tube up to the lift. Guys up top push or spin you down the hill on request. If you have time while in Leavenworth in the winter, you will have a lot of fun here.
With the lack of snow, you can still enjoy the awesome views from the SKi HIll by hiking up up up the trail. There is a newish mountain bike trail that goes too up and appears super smooth for the most part, although very steep. You'll earn your beer by hiking or biking up this puppy! Don't miss it. The views are fabulous.
First time going and tried tubing at Ski Hill. It was so much fun. Ticket is good for 1.5 hours which is really nice. No crowds or long lines. They rope tow you up a hill and then haul you out onto a well groomed run that has a few thrilling jumps at the end. Great for a first time ski family too and rates are very reasonable. The Lodge has hot chocolate, drinks and snacks and is very comfortable. Overall, best family fun for a great price. Staff is super friendly and helpful.
Easy distance from town (about 5 minutes), free parking, and an inexpensive rope toe. You can downhill, cross-country, or inner tube down. There's even a major ski jump. One year I brought my ice Axe, hiked up the mountain and glissaded down on in my snow pants. Plus there's a nice lodge where you can get snacks.
Visited today, New Years Day, at 1:45 pm. Being that it was only 25 deg. we didn't think that many people would be there. Unfortunately there were 40-50 people in line for the tubing hill. Your $17 ticket is only good for 1 1/2 hours and is time stamped. My kids (ages 14-21) waited 20-25 min. for each ride, so they were only able to get 3 rides in during their time frame. The tubing hill doesn't limit the amount of tickets that they sell during a time frame. Also, the tow rope is hooked onto your tube and pulls you up the hill. This takes about 2 min. Then, they unhook you at the top and send you down a chute carved out of the snow that is maybe 100 ft. and takes about 10 sec. You can't link up and go down with friends, it's just one at a time. Save your money, bring your own sled and go to Sterling Middle School in East Wenatchee.
Walk up in the summertime for a lovely view of the countryside. They sometimes have outdoor theatre here in the wam months, which is good fun.
Spent the day shopping, eating german food & taking in the beautiful scenic views in this quaint little village. Next time I will stay for the night & spend a couple of days so I can visit each shop. Got a head start on Christmas shopping.
