Although I only passed through and stopped briefly, the park occupies a choice piece of property overlooking the water. The views are magnificent and those famous Newport breezes are ongoing. Parking is easy and the rest rooms are very nice!
This is always our first and last stop on a vacation to New England. Its on the southern tip of Newport away from busy Thames street with amazing views of the ocean, Narragansett Bays southern end, sailboats and Beavertail Lighthouse. Beaches that are pretty rocky in spots but good for shelling. Walking on rocky areas that extend out far away from the beaches can yield little treasures sometimes like bouys , driftwood, starfish, and others. Kite flying is popular and they can be purchased at a vendor that sets up, don't know his hours though. Peaceful and relaxing no man made noise just wind, waves and a few but never many people. Usually parking available.
After a long day of sight seeing we drove here, stopped and rested along the waters side. Beautiful breeze and lovely sights!
I have been coming back to this location for the past 60+ years. It is a lot more "developed" than in 1950s, but the improvements are well designed and implemented.
Visited on a beautiful but very windy day. Awesome. The view off the coastline is magnificent. You are on the southern tip of New England with the final leg of the glacial rock and the pound surf. Could not get a better view of the power of the Atlantic Ocean. A lot of friendly people around enjoying the view.
I've been here several times over the years and it's still a nice quiet place with great views. There are restrooms inside the building set back from the road. Plenty of room for a picnic, flying a kite, playing frisbee, croquet or anything like that, and just taking in the views of the water. Free parking.
A great place to have a picnic, fly a kite, or just to sit and watch the boats coming into or out of Narragansett Bay. The grounds are well cared for and there's plenty of parking.
Definitely worth a drive out and a walk around. Beautiful park and not as busy as it was closer to town.
Its a place to go by yourself to sit and stare out on to the ocean and make the great decisions of your life, go fishing off a mound of huge rocks or catch the good winds to fly your kite. Parking is provided as well as the amazing view.
This is one of the best views anywhere! Sitting at Brenton Point State Park and enjoying the sun and sunset is amazing and peaceful!
