Great location, excellent cider. Wood-fired pizzas a favourite! Casual dining on patio overlooking the vineyards and water.Families, biking groups, friends all enjoying themselves. Covered patio and larger tables in the sun.
The cider was good, we bought few bottles. But besides this the place is not so interesting to spend too much time there. There is small outdoor patio , the view is just of the growing grapes. We left pretty soon.
Our visit to the Cidery was a big hit. Enjoyed the complimentary tasting of various ciders. Split a large salad with goat cheese and candied walnuts, and a chicken pizza - really delicious, on the patio with a great view of vineyard and the lake. Only disappointment is that they were out of the peach cider bottled to take home, so had to make do with pear. Hard life.
We've been to county cider in the past but this was the first time we stayed for lunch. The location is great, overlooking the water in a vineyard. Can't beat it. The concept us great - wood fired pizzas and local food burgers and wraps. Where they fail is in the execution. The pizzas seem like store bought frozen pizzas with added cheese. A lot of added cheese. The flavours just didn't come together and the pizzas just didn't taste like the product of a wood fired oven.
This tucked-away destination is a great way to spend a few mellow hours on a sunny day. The tasting bar is housed in a charming old stone building, the cider is delicious, and the patio is quaint. It's perfect for a group of adults or a couple who just want to relax and enjoy a beautiful afternoon. Items on the menu include a burger and a variety of pizzas made in their wood-fired oven (we had the chicken pizza - it hit the spot). Also, many of their flavoured ciders can only be bought on-site which makes for great gifts.
I love going to The Cider Company. On a sunny afternoon, it's a fabulous place to sit, enjoy a pizza and a glass of cider. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The owners are generous, outgoing and just plain good people. This place is tremendously popular on weekends…..but, the wait is worth it.
Great food, great cider, amazing view and ambiance. Make sure you stop by if you are visiting Prince Edward County.
My wife and I visited this place for lunch, having been advised that the setting was magnificent... On arrival, we had a great time chatting with Chris, a recently arrived Scotsman, come to help his sister with the outdoor wood-fired cooking. Then we went to the patio to have lunch, one of Chris's fine pizzas...And the view from the patio? Fantastic! Rows of grape vines sloping away towards a deep-blue hued Lake Ontario, on a sunny day fit for any vacation! After lunch, we strolled among the vineyard rows briefly, then sat in the Muskoka chairs positioned just above the vineyard, where we enjoyed the company of others there and of the awesome view.As an aside, neither my wife nor I care much for cider... I had a glass of it, but could take it or leave it... doesn't matter with this place... don't let the name fool you... there's a lot more than cider to be enjoyed here!
On our way back home after spending the weekend in the area, we decided to have a little tour round to do some wine, cider and cheese tasting before heading home. We were not disappointed with our trip to the County Cider Company, it sits on top of a hill with rows of vines and a fabulous view over the lake. As soon as we arrived we were greeted and given a free tasting of all the ciders they have to offer, along with a very knowledgeable description of how they are made and flavors. As they have a wood oven we decided to stay for lunch and had a delicious pizza sitting on the lawn with the view to die for. We will definitely be heading back there next time we're in the area. Well worth a visit.
Our Sunday afternoon took us over the ferry at Picton and a pleasant drive up through the lake on the mountain to The County Cider Company.Avery pleasant setting on the edge of the vineyard overlooking the lake is quite spectacular. Their stone fired Pizza was delicious and one pizza was enough for two. The cider is delicious and refreshing an overll great day in the country.
