We returned to the Blue Gate Theater again for New Year's Eve 2014. It was great as always. Dinner before the shows was also excellent. The three shows of the evening were great. This is a perfect way to celebrate New Year's Eve - low key, safe, and relaxing.
The show was great; the theatre is small, but fine. The Emcee wasn't the regular one, and he was not good. A couple had been married 61 years and he barely acknowledged them. He did not seem like he enjoyed his job and not sincere.
Was there several times. It's on the 3rd. floor at the Blue Gate Restaurant in Shipshewana, IN. The last two times we went for the program presented by Brian Free and Assurance. It was an enjoyable experience and I would consider going again.
We saw the Kingston Trio. They put on an excellent performance. The theater itself was very nicely done. Good sound and two screens at the sides that also showed the performance so everyone could get close-up views - although not a bad seat in the house. Could best be described as a small, intimate theater. I believe I read they seat 325. It is on the third floor but an elevator available if needed.
I've been to several concerts here and it's a small theater, but the sound is great and there's not a bad seat in the house.
This was a very inspirational. We like to hear the Old Christian songs. It was very well done and enjoyable.
My husband loved the Kingston Trio before were married. This was a great time of remembering back over 50 years. Our seats were great and every one was very customer service oriented. Fun night!
We attended a concert at the Blue Gate Theater featuring a young, pop artist. Unfortunately, much of the music was lost in the very poor acoustics in the long, narrow room. The room appeared similar to several hotel banquet rooms opened into one large room with a relatively low ceiling. The theater seating comprised of crowded rows of cushioned folding chairs and only rose a couple feet from the front to the rear making it very difficult for many to see the performer. However, two TVs and two large screens were helpful if you could see around the head in front of you. Maybe the seating arrangement is different for drama productions / plays, but be aware that the current pictures on the Blue Gate Theater website that show an intimate theater with comfortable seating are nothing like the seating arrangement at the concert we attended. That being said, we appreciate that Blue Gate seems to be trying to bring in family friendly entertainment and we had a wonderful experience at the Blue Gate Garden Inn next to the "theater".
I saw "Josiah for President" on Nov 28. It was a great show. the actors are super. You fill a paper out & turn in at intermission and they have a drawing at end of intermission for a Blue Gate pie. I won the Chocolate Crunch. It was soooooo good! This is the 4th show I've seen and will be planning to go the Easter show in April.
Play was lighthearted and was a good message for our political times! Loved loved loved seeing Ralph Stanton, an inspirational bluegrass singer. At age 87 he continues the traditional style with ease.
