Played as a single and also used the practice facilities. Very nice practice area so go early to make use of this. The tee times were back up 20 minutes at 10:15 am on a weekday so not sure if it would be worse on a weekend. Once play got underway, pace was not too bad. Just fast enough to keep from messing up your game from the distraction. Well designed course and good course conditions make this worth the time to invest since it will not be a quick round.
This is a beautiful course, great facility and challenging golf. If you are going to golf in Orlando, put this on your list.
If you haven't played Orange County National Panther Lake or Crooked Cat, you need to put these on your list. Except during the aerification times, these courses are a wonderful couple of tracts. Panther Lake is probably a notch above Crooked Cat in difficulty and in visual appeal. After golf, the restaurant has excellent food. I especially love the Club Sandwich. Check either the OCN web site or GolfNow for good deals.
We played this course for $65 each, give them a call and you should get this rate including lunch which was very tasty! We travel from Northern Ireland regularly to play in the US, this was our first time at Orange County National and boy were we glad we did.The clubhouse is in Winter Garden and considerably out of the way (easy to get to via car). The clubhouse is a nice building with a huge pro shop (WHEN YOU PAY YOUR GREEN FEES YOU GET A $10 VOUCHER FOR USE IN THE PRO SHOP SO DON'T BUY FROM THE PRO SHOP FIRST) which takes a while to navigate. We had help from a young female employee called Aimee who was very friendly and assisted us when our group had difficulties - a big thanks to her. The restaurant looks out over the golf course (crooked cat I think), we had a gorgeous lunch there, typical American Bar food again with very friendly staff. We were playing the Panther Lake course which is a short 2 minute cart ride to the first tee, there we met a friendly gentleman who gave us a few tips on the course and set us on our way. As a British golfer who plays links courses all the time, playing an American course with so much water was a delight. On the tee of the 17th we actually saw a black panther crossing one of the fairways (so be careful poking about in bushes!). The 17th is my favourite, reminds me of TPC Sawgrass 17th which is a straight shot across water although you can be generous and try to land it on the beach. Cart girls were frequent and the course was well designed, very well maintained greens and fairways with a nice selection of tees to use. We were delighted to pick this course and look forward to playing this again soon. If you are in Orlando look no further. If you would like other recommendations of a similar golf course try Falcons Fire, Celebration and Hawks Landing. Enjoy your day golfing, I hope this review will convince you to try this place, the course is well run and a great example of a golf club that is making a clear effort to be the best it can be and constantly improve.
Fantastic golf course ( Panther ) . The staff were friendly , helpful and welcoming. Golf was a great price. Clubs available to hire. Fab food in the clubhouse and Jodie was a super hostess.
May 22 2014Visited my son in Orlando. Last visit took him out to Disney Oak golf course for his first time ever golfing. Had a great time. For never playing he did very well. Disney Oak is a walking course only so we tried out the OCN Golf Center. I had called the day before to ask if it was a good course for a beginner, the lady said it was and told us the rates. We arrived Thursday morning 20 dollars for nine holes and golf cart included. Very fair price. She looked at my son who had a plain blue t-shirt on and said only collar shirts are allowed. So we went to the bargain rack and found the cheapest shirt for another 40 dollars. Wow ! Picked up our cart and rental bags went to the course. Was told have fun no one else was on the that course. ( was wondering why the collared shirt was so important if no one was else was even playing) oh well. We had a great time until hole 3 or 4. (See picture) my son followed the path to the putting green and we got out to putt . A patrol guy came up and said must you park the cart so close to the green? I said we just followed the path. ( look at the picture) The guy replied when you play other golf courses do you get this close? I replied this is our second time ever playing and the first corse we walked. That we were just on the path from other carts. He replied that is what we don't want a path near the green. Getting kinda upset I replied I am sorry we followed the path from the other golf carts, what do you suggest? He then more politely said well it's better to stay 40 feet away from green. I replied we will. We played the remaining 5 or 6 holes, had fun but still tell our friends the bad more than the good. I do hope to play again, and will know to stay 40 feet away from greens. Very good day, would have been great if the man would have just politely asked us to stay 40 feet away and didn't have a attitude about it.
I played this course several years ago and forgot most of it, but this time I played it twice in a week and it was good. Be sure to look at Golfnow for discount as we got tee time, balls, lunch and practice balls for $49.00 a great value on a great course. There are no house to be seen on the course which nice. I would make this a regular stop when I visit Orlando
Just played Orange County for the third time in the last 5 years. Course was in excellent shape just as I remembered. However, it seams they are cutting back on the service side of things. In the past we were always given a bottle of water with the round and carts were cleaned and switched out between our 2 rounds. They staff was always courteous and helpful. This year we got none of that. The 2 courses are on par with the best orlando has to offer. If you are looking for more guest friendly services Grand Cypress and the Ritz are head and shoulders above OCN. OCN has always been proud of its association with the PGA and Q-school as well as there training facilities...hope they get back to the quality service they once had to make this a must stop on any golf trip. For now I am pretty sure we are going to pass on this one next year.
Price was OK. $80 for a round if golf, club hire and cart. The course was in OK condition but not as good as I thought it may be. The real downside. Villas and apartments right on the edge of fairways. Way too close and dangerous and people, were sitting in their gardens just a few feet from the edge of the course. I slightly pulled one drive and it rested in an empty veranda.
This was an unplanned business lunch, which caught our attention with the aroma of food being cooked nearby. The server was new, and did not know the menu very well. We ended up with lots of different versions of burgers with fries. Don't get me wrong, the food was delicious, and very prompt service. We met the chef towards the end of our meal, and complimented the speed and size of the lunchtime meal. The sunday lunch is suppose to be even better according to the chef. So we must try this soon! Overall, it was very good, and we would return.
