The place is absolutely great, very sharp and clean. I felt like I was back in elementary school with the excitement of going on a field trip!
Great place to come for fun. The different exhibits are interactive and fun. Science on the Rocks is a lot of fun if you want to go without kids.
My husband and I took our 4 children (2 are 6 and 2 are 12) yesterday and had a blast, the kids loved the activities the movies were awesome esp the dome theater! The only thing that was irritating was kids were very inconsiderate and tried cutting in line ALOT, but that is bad parenting not the museum's fault! If you are reading this review WATCH YOUR KIDS, don't sit on the benches and chat while they run loose! We will def be back!
We muchly enjoyed the hands-on activities and aquarium section. For $5 more, the entry package got us into an amazing IMAX. We spent 3 hours and only left because we were getting hungry! Note: The Parking Garage is pretty highly priced.
we arrived at 11am on a rainy Saturday. Including lunch & imax movie a 5 hour trip. Our 7 year old had tons of fun and both my husband and I enjoyed the trip. A very good way to spend a rainy day. Also a plus we were able to watch the st Patrick's day parade from inside the museum☺
This little grab and go eating spot has such great selections. I had a roast beef sandwich that was fresh, and tasty. They keep it stocked well and clean. Friendly staff. It gets busy. but it's a good place for a quick lunch while at Discovery Place.
Definitely not the best I've seen but it entertained the kids. We enjoyed the movie in the dome. Kids enjoyed the building blocks and playing at 'how to make a shelter area'. Illusions exhibition was much more enjoyed than kids 4 & 6. The Frogs exhibit was also very nice. Was a stop over visit in Charlotte, so it was fine to kill some time here. Tip: Ordering a hot dog and pastrami hot sandwich took forever and we wasted a lot of time waiting for the food. When it did arrive it was not warm anymore. Would rather buy something from cold food section that needs not preparation. There was ample table and chairs to sit. There is parking in adjacent building for museum.
Really cool displays, very informative and fun! Don't miss the unique IMAX theatre. Watched the movie about galaxies there, incredible!
Our granddaughters ALWAYS ask to go here whenever they are visiting from out-of-state. It's hands-on fun and learning, and we always spend several hours there. The girls' favorites are the bed of nails (for their PopPop) and the vacuum tubes that suck up torn newspaper and then shower it down all over them. They always enjoy the shore aquarium, where they can pick up a live horseshoe crab and other beach critters. We love the IMAX theater experience; the films are always outstanding. The special rotating exhibits are also excellent; their favorite a couple of years ago was about "yucky" things. You can take a break & go out on the street for lunch, then return in the afternoon for more. The parking garage is across the street, and it can be accessed from an above street crosswalk. I highly recommend this!!
Great fun for the family. The atmosphere is kid friendly and educational. No matter the weather there are a variety of activities for children and adults alike.
