The bridge in the backdrop and the am sun lights it perfectly! Take your time and watch the world wake up as it gets later in the am. A great place to walk, bike or run!
The conversion of Crissy Field from a decrepit military aircraft runway into a beautiful nature preserve has been wonderful. I love to park by the beach, watch the kite boarders, then stroll down the path to the Warming Hut for an over-priced coffee. I then like to stroll out onto the pier to drink it, whilst watching crab fishers and marauding seals. Occasionally there are snowy egrets in the pond. I can never figure out how they stay so spotlessly white.
Easy to hike to this field from the toll plaza. A fairly flat hike can take you all the way back toward the city. Restrooms at the field.
While walking the Golden Gate trail, one of the options is to take an extended walk, which includes walking past Crissy Field. It's history as an airplane landing strip is pretty cool...mainly used as a big dog park now!
I imagine this is really busy on a hot summer day because it was plenty busy on a sunny Thursday in February! This would be a great place to bring the whole family, but especially great if you have people with mobility problems because it's wide and flat with concrete surfaces, so it's easy to get around with walkers, wheelchairs and baby buggies. There are benches, but you can bring your own blanket and picnic anywhere. The beach is right there for exploring, floating or swimming (if you don't mind cold water). Plenty of interesting views with the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, and San Francisco as well as all the boat traffic.Dogs are allowed so bring Fido along! :)
Perfect spot for a picnic. Great view of the Golden Gate, and fabulous people watching. We went to the Ferry Building and bought everything we needed for a fun, romantic afternoon.
Great view of the Golden Gate. Perfect little stroll on a bike. Loved it! Took a bike to ride across the golden gate and went through Crissy to get there. I think this place has the best view rather than the actual bridge itself. Such a family little area and I can't wait to go back!
Wonderful views of the Golden Gate Bridge , Alcatraz and the bay. A good place to bring a dog. Also a great place to ride a bike.
We lived in SF 45 years ago and if someone had told me then that this area of San Francisco would be eminently visitable many years later I would not have believed it. The marshes are pristine and the SF Bay water is clean and pure. Fun watching the dog walkers walk many dogs and to see wild life in the areas cut off from dogs and their walkers. Visit if you are in SF!
